What do you know about Canada?

Alot of people are voting you up Talkinbollox,

However... this may come as a surprise, but...

I actually believe my nation, Canada, did the wrong thing in calling you to apologize!

We actually do NOT owe you an apology, and as a citizen of the USA, you do not have some kind of automatic "magical" right to be allowed entry into Canada.

Just to explain further, the reverse happened to me!

I, as a Canadian citizen was once denied entry to the USA using only my "enhanced" driver's license. The US border officials wanted to see my passport instead, which I did not bring along with me that day, thinking my enhanced drive's license would be sufficient.

So the USA turned me away at the border... but I am ok with that, because again... I do not have a magical right to ignore the US border officials, nor demand official apologies from them.

Quite the opposite: it's the right of US border officials to turn away ANYONE they want.

I (nor any other citizen of the world) can NOT simply demand and force a border official to allow me entry into the USA.

The country belongs to Americans (not me, since I am a Canadian).

And so... I believe that border officials of any nation, should have the power to turn away anyone they want, since they are the front line defenders and defense of that nation, and foreign citizens can NOT claim some kind of magical "right" to enter a particular nation.

Just to give another example: neither you, nor I, can just simply fly over to China, and DEMAND entry into their nation, to roam around as we please.

It's up to the Chinese border officials to decide. It's their country.
