What are subtle red flags at a job interview that say "working here would suck"?

I applied for a design school, one that considers itself to be among the elites of the our country, the interview was a so called stress interview and the people who conducted it were way out of line asking questions that aren't even legal to ask people, basically they are shit testing you and when I gave them a taste of their own medicine it turned really sour when I actually got in. The guy that had been the biggest ass couldn't handle being called out during the interview and proceeded to slander me and sabotage me at my exams and so on, it all came to an end when I finally called him out on his behavior in a meeting with HR, then he turned victim and was now afraid of me and so on. Its a long story but I knew before I showed up that the guy was a tit and the he might be the representation what the school was like and I was correct. Gut feeling is so valuable but only if one listens.
