What are your experiences with antidepressants?

I'm on an anti-anxiety med, an anti-psychotic, and an anti-depressant. I also go to therapy. A lot of people upon hearing that would assume I'm a basket case, but all of these things have helped me be a pretty well functioning adult. It's also taken a lot of trial and error and willingness to keep giving different options a try. When I was a teenager it was very common in certain circles of mine for people to vilify medication and therapy both as futile wastes of time. Unfortunately that way of thinking led me towards being unhappy for much longer than I needed to be. I can understand the pessimism people have towards treatment because it can be disheartening when the treatment doesn't work, but it's important to spread the message that there's treatment out there for everyone even if it takes awhile to figure it out!
