What are your favorite ways to add variation to verse two from verse one

I often make the drums drop out at the beginning of the second verse, and then I have them come back in (either one element at a time or all once). Having them all come back in on the 4 can sound so hype. I've also made beats where I had the 808 drop out for a couple bars. These techniques can be especially useful if there's a sense of things "building up" from the first verse to the chorus. It's like an energy reset.

I also created a beat where a background layer in the first verse becomes the main element in the second verse. In the first verse, there was a piano track, which I duplicated. I then used Initial Audio Reverse on the duplicate. When the second verse comes in, you no longer hear the main piano track and only hear the one with Reverse on it. It made for an interesting change of pace. I combined that with the drums dropping out, which really highlights the difference.

With that being said, the chorus is typically the part of the beat that I try to differentiate the most. Aside from the drums or 808 dropping out, I often keep my first and second verses essentially the same.
