What is a bigger threat than people realize?

If you want to speak about "affordability" then how about unis would get their shit together and finally embrace technological capabilities. Practically all theory could be put online with lectures made by top best educators in the country/world. Hell, make it completely modular as in every small idea is packaged into small fraction so if some knowledge changes you don't need to change everything but just 1 small part of the overall program.

At the end of the day, everybody gets the best of the best as far as knowledge is concerned while only real world "practical" education is left for universities/schools to handle on their own as there is no more lectures necessary in unis/schools. All that is left is just lab/practical skills that can easily handled. In the end lots of money is saved, especially space.

It is very possible lots of people would lose their jobs and I imagine if you give out education online like this it will become pretty much free (if not free, trust me, it will be pirated more than movies). It will fuck up academics as we know it and depending what government decides to do many unis would be considered "pointless" and just shut down.

I guess that is why nobody is willing to do it and even those that try to do something like that will have to deal with massive resistance that is 10 times worse than police union.

Bottom line is, that would be affordable, sustainable and effective education program. And I completely understand why academics are afraid of losing their importance and why master class does not wish to pressure academics into doing this. So if unpeople really desire something like this then you need to start some wars and win. Good luck unpeople.
