V-strom 650. I wanted an upright bike that could handle multi-hour 2 up. It also had to be in my price range. It also needed to be fun and handle gravel, dirt, broken pavement and tar/chip roads. I sat on a lot of bike and most I wanted were way out of my price range or not 2 up friendly till I found a left over new ( never even filled with oil) 650 abs. 32k miles in 3 years, I think I like it and it is my size lol.

previous, still own 81 cm400e with a cm450e engine. Its old and buzzy but a funny to rip around. About as close as I care to get to a grom. It makes me glad I have the suz for long distance or 2up.

06 honda vlx 600 shadow. I got it with I think 3k miles or was it 13k miles, I don't remember. Daily rode it for a year or two and sold it with 31k miles. My dad put the last two thousand miles on it learning to ride. It was slow uncomfortable and painful. I enjoyed almost every minute of it.

Next bike... I want a r1200rt but that is too much money. Maybe a fjr. I don't know but it will have cruise control.
