My mother-in-law, who refuses to believe in the paranormal, had a very interesting experience.

About 2 years ago, her and her boyfriend bought a very old house on the outskirts of town. Rural area, right on the river. The house has been a general store, antique shop, and a home all within its life span so there are some weird things around it. Like a large industrial hook hangs from the ceiling in the living room because the store owners used to pull meat from the basement through a trap door. Or the staircases that go nowhere because the top level of the house was lopped off years ago. Or the huge walk in safe in the basement that no one knows the combination to anymore. It's all very neat, but a tad unnerving at the same time because its old and obviously holds a ton of history. The fact that one of the past owners drowned in the river behind the house also adds to the spookiness.

Anyway, the house is huge. They don't even heat the back half because it's just massive and there's only 2 of them. At the front of the house, there's a kitchen and a sink area that has a window above it. It faces out onto their large property.

It was night time, so the dark window almost acts as a mirror (you know what I mean). When you look into the window's reflection, you can see a portion of the main hallway behind you.

Anyway, she was washing the dishes and in the reflection, she sees her boyfriend pass through the hall into the back of the house. She calls after him to get some wine from the cellar. No answer. She calls his name again. No answer. Annoyed, she starts to make her way to the back of the house but before she gets down the hall, she hears a noise coming form their bedroom (which is not far from the kitchen). She looks in and she sees her boyfriend, fast asleep, snoring.

She has no idea what she saw that night but she knows she saw something. And saw it long enough to be sure it was a person. That story has always freaked me out.
