You know why. Deep down, you know why.

Sure, a percentage of Americans are victims of an underfunded education system, and a media-perpetuated culture of fear that has allowed wars to be conducted for profit, while wealth is transferred from the working class (taxes) to financial institutions as their debts are forgiven (GFC bailouts), while the cost of healthcare grows unreasonable - and they will vote for Trump because they are angry and he promises to be appropriately angry about things.

... but I think another proportion of Americans believe Trump just won't take any shit, and that's a good enough short-term plan. Sure, he won't take shit from the people that elected him and normally that's bad for a democracy, but it's just as likely he won't take shit from Congress. He won't take shit from donors. He won't take shit from anyone who would undermine his authority.

Obama promised to get out of the middle east and shut down Guantanamo... didn't happen. They got to him. "They" being whatever conspiratorial cabal of political donors, or controlling media interests you believe in who make billions from the US waging perpetual war.

Hillary would get into office owing favours to rich people.

Bernie would get into office discovering he owes some favours to rich people.

Trump would get into office and tell anyone who says he owes them a favour to get fucked, and then have them arrested.

Trump is the reset button America needs: for a democracy that works for the majority.

Trump will not make America great again. Americans will make America great again if Trump is elected... they'll be forced to... because Trump is insane.
