I was wasted one night bar hopping with some friends of mine and hopped on one's back for a piggyback ride. We stumbled into a trash can on the curb and I kicked it just a bit, not enough to knock it over but just to scoot it a few feet.

A couple of guys were on the balcony across the street and started talking a bunch of shit about how we should stay the hell away from their trash can and after a few unkind exchanges, we said fuck 'em and continued on our way.

A couple hours later we were all walking back the way we had come before. I was considerably drunk and decided these guys were assholes and kicked their trash can over. The same two guys from before asked if I had a problem and wanted them to come down there. I told them I sure did and the handful of guys I'm with decided they had didn't want any part of the situation and continued on their way.

To my complete surprise the door to their house opened and instead just two guys emerging, about ten filed out and headed towards lil ol' me. This was the middle of downtown in a college town, so maybe I shouldn't have been so surprised.

Just as I was realizing the error of my ways I heard over my shoulder someone say, "hey bro, get out of here, we got this." I glanced back to see an equal number of very large dudes stepping out into the street to meet my attackers. I graciously accepted their suggestion and GTFO'd. As I did, I glanced back and witnessed a full fledged brawl in the middle of the street.

To the group of big brawny dudes that saved my scrawny ass from a considerable ass beating, I'll never forget you.
