‘Maybe you should just grow up and stop playing with paper planes’ just after two bullies destroyed all the paper planes I was playing with in the school yard.

This one has a happier ending: same year, a teacher scolded me because I corrected her during class after she said ‘all books are written in either first or third person point of view’. I told her I had a book written in the second person. I brought my Choose Your Own Adventure to class the next day (Duel of The Masters, from the Endless Quest series) to show it to her, my parents were called because I was being ‘disrespectful’. My mom still loves to tell this story to this day.

Both happened in 6th grade (I’m 45 now).
