Free roll20 gets you probably everything you need. You can just import maps and tokens from wherever you want, though there's a few available for free. If you upgrade, there's even more tokens/maps available (without buying from the marketplace), but I usually only subscribe when I want to use the APIs or make a custom character sheet.

My biggest problem with FG is that you have to host the server, so you have to make sure you can get everyone set up and working, which I'm not really interested in doing. Getting all the tech to cooperate is hard enough without adding in something like that. Every minute spent trying to make it work is a minute not spent actually playing.
