What hobby can be done for cheap, but is full of snobs that will hate you for not going the super expensive route?

It's not just r/c flight that is like that. I've been in the r/c hobby for many years, mostly with nitro powered trucks, but I've also got a Blade quad and have had a couple cheaper helis and quads. Anyone who mentions Traxxas immediately gets shit on, like they're the dollar store version of hobby grade r/c. They're just as fucking expensive as the next guy, but since they come ready to run and don't have to be built first, they're 'crap'. I love their stuff and all my trucks have been traxxas, and I've had great luck with them. Their customer service is A fucking 1 too, and parts are readily available. I've had all my stuff torn down to piles of parts and screws numerous times, at that point how is it any different than a kit?

And don't even get me started on the nitro vs electric debate. Most people in the hobby now see nitro as 'old tech', and 'dead', but nitro is what got me into the hobby, I fucking love the sound and smell of a nitro engine screaming around, and they turn more heads than an electric does. Anyone not in the hobby just sees electric as 'toys'. Both have their pros and cons, and I do have one brushless truck (a Traxxas of course), but it doesn't get near as much use as my nitros, and isn't nearly as fun.
