What industry is a lot shadier than it seems?

The industry for hairdressers (specifically, my outside-in perspective) is pretty garbage too. Not to the levels of trafficking, but still feels exploitative.

It's one of the few trade schools that leaves people in a substantial amount of debt (compared to other trades), and afterwards an overwhelming number of entry level jobs have payrates comparable to waiter/waitressing jobs, due to the tipping customs.

It's all really built from the ground-up to be a depressingly efficient wage-slave factory; and a lot of the red flags are up-front and visible, so anyone with half a brain changes career paths before finishing schooling for hair, leaving the more vulnerable (eg: those too young/inexperienced to see said red flags) to their demise.
