What jobs attract the biggest assholes?

Not everyone at the DMV is an asshole, but the ones they do employ are a special breed.

Story time: A few months before she passed, my mother was already terminally ill and it was extremely difficult for her to go anywhere in public as she was in a lot of pain and discomfort. She was supposed to get her license renewed in the mail (for hospital ID purposes and such), but somehow they screwed it up in the system and said that she had to come in and take a new photo.

I came in to discuss the situation with someone there and waited in the long line patiently to be let in. The line manager did not call/wave me up, but instead scoffed and loudly said "Hello?? What are you here for?" as if I would magically know that he was ready to let me into their exclusive club. I thought it was supposed to be polite to be called up when waiting in a line (so as to not rush the employee or assume that they should be at your beck and call), but I guess I was mistaken.

I began to explain to him that I would like to talk to someone about issuing a photo ID for my mother, but he cut me off shouting: "IS SHE HERE WITH YOU, SIR?"

I calmly explained that she was too ill to actually come in, but he cut me off again and said "I can't help you if she's not here! Sorry, next person!" and ignored me.

I can't explain how pissed I was. I was in my early 20's struggling to come to terms with my mother's impending loss and I wasn't even able to come in contact with a decent human being at the DMV to correct a situation that they had screwed up. In retrospect, I should have reported him or did something but I was too hurt/numb/angry/stressed to think straight.

I hope that guy lives a nice life enjoying his autonomous power over the line at the DMV.
