What kind of higher power cares what you do in private?

The actions you take in private show your true character.

You know, I somewhat disagree with this statement. At risk of sounding too edgy, I think it's an authoritarian trick. "Big Brother is Watching".

Case and point - If you were to go exclusively by the way I talk to my boys, and how frisky I can be in my imagination, you'd think I'm an absolute hedonistic ladies man.

A girl kissed me on the cheek at a New Years party and, to quote a friend of mine, I "Went a healthy shade of scarlet"

In private, in my imagination, in my personal talks with friends, you'd think I'm some male romantic lead in a paper pack romance novel.

Whenever I've been confronted with romance, I'm the bashful shy nerd.

This sort of thinking would have me believe that my "One sexual partner in 30 years of life" bottom is some sort of man-slut, because "Who you are in private is who you really are"

I'm cautious with this sentiment, because the longer I live, the more I become convinced that old axiom is a grand trick that Authoritarians played on humanity.

How many men and women are great heroes in their private imagination, only to prove coward in real crisis?

How many men and women are sensual lovers in their private imagination, only to be bashful and shy when their hand is held?

A large number.

I'm starting to become convinced that this "old wisdom" is simply an example of historic authoritarians successfully pulling the wool over humanity's eyes and convincing them that Big Brother is always watching, so turn your two-way view screen back on, 2 minutes hate is starting.
