What mistake should have killed you?

I was drunk in college one night and bet my roommate I could spit on the building next to us. We were on a balcony on the second floor above a ramp to an underground parking garage. I grabbed the railing, leaned back, and flung the spit and myself right over the railing. I immediately knew I was falling, so I held onto the railing until my back hit the outside and forced my hands lose. The momentum rotated me forward half a turn so I was upside down. I hit the side of the retaining wall (which had an iron rod fence on top), in between two concrete columns, with my head and shoulder landing in a small pile of weeks old snow that was sheilded from the sun by the same wall. I laid there for a few minutes but got myself up and walked back inside. I ended up spending the night in the hospital with a concussion but no broken bones or lasting injuries. I went back a few days later and measured the fall at 23 feet, and the snow had melted. My spit did not make it but came very close.

tldr: spit/fell 23 ft off a balcony landing on my head. Walked away with no significant injury.
