This happened when I was about 7. I had pretty much been forced into a religious life. I went to a public school, but had to go to weekly religious class and church. I did not like it, but I had a big interest in their discussion of Heaven. We were told it was an amazing place with no worries, no work, and that those who go there can return, all that spiritual stuff.

I spent more time than a 7 year old should thinking about that. I was either religiously pressed to hard, or I was just completely fucking stupid. A place that great after I'm dead and I'll come back if I wanted to (was how my stupid ass self interpreted it)? Awesome!

So, dear God, this still scares me. I was working on homework with a friend. Naturally, it was some division papers but we were having a hard time with it. This friend was in the same religion class with me. I remember saying "Geez... Heaven wouldn't have this kind of boring stuff..." and him just saying something spiritual along the lines of "Yeah, Jesus will save us in the end". So I had a genius idea. I told him I'd be right back. I came back with a knife and said "Well, I'm going to Heaven see you!" and slashed at my own throat. Thankfully, 7 year old me had horrid aim and I ended up cutting only a little bit on the left side of my neck. It was barely worse than a paper cut, but I was still terrified of what I did. I never went back to believing in religion after that, and truly still lose sleep over that.
