What random person that you met once and never saw again do you still think about?

Met once, saw twice. Her name is Kim. She is the epitome of "can I speak you your manager?" (Tldr below)

It was my first day on the job as a server at a local restaurant, management was unaware of a huge even going on a couple blocks away from the restaurant and there were only 2 servers there to handle a crowd that would usually require 4. We got extremely busy and I was hard on the brink of just walking out right then and never coming back that was how bad it was.

Kim came in right in the middle of the huge rush with her 6 children and demanded to be seated immediately. I told her to choose where she wanted to sit and if there weren't any open tables that she would have to wait until we freed up a table. All the tables that would've accommodated her family were full so you'd assume she'd just wait right? No. She went over to one of our big tables and asked if they would leave so she could seat her family there. Since this other group was almost ready to go anyway and they were good people, they just left, opening up the table for her. Her visit went great and all from there until I gave her the check, which I had accidentally added an extra drink on there for $1.25 and I had to go back and ring up the entire order again since our system is way outdated and makes altering an order extremely complicated. When I rang it up again I put it in just as she had told me it should have been prior, and it can up to be $3 more than it was before, which was correct, I had put something in wrong before. She was throwing a fit over $3 in the middle of one of the worst nights in my life, so I just handed her $5 out of my pocket to cover the difference since I didn't know what else to do and she asked to speak with the manager, who was out of town, so I gave her his card and told her to call him or come the next day. She proceeded to pay with a card and then tipped me 1 cent. She went through the trouble to write 0.01 on the receipt just as a fuck you when I was already having an awful night.

She came back the next day and told my manager what happened and my manager just apologized and then after she left my manager opened the cash register and handed me $5 and went on about how much of a bitch she was and how he was sorry for not anticipating the event. Had that not occurred, I would have definitely quit the job, but I stuck around and after 6 months of working there, at 17 years old, I am an assistant manager!

Thanks Kim! You can have your penny back if I ever see you again!

Tldr: on my first day as a server at a very busy restaurant an extremely rude customer, Kim, threw a fit over her bill being $3 more than it should have been so I reimbursed her out of my own pocket $5 since it was difficult , she tipped me 1 cent, came back the next day to speak with the manager, manager reimbursed me for what I paid her which made me decide to keep working there, and I currently am an assistant manager!
