What Really Happened At The Vancouver Slut Walk

I'm in a lose-lose situation here, because I really didn't want my inbox to be destroyed but if I don't respond it's going to look like I don't have a response. This isn't a pissing contest, so I'm really not looking to argue who has it worse in society right now, I'm just reiterating that feminism is still necessary. I'm also not looking for pity or attention with this comment, I'm just saying why feminism is important to me, now.

When I was 11 I went on a family vacation (to apple river, really poor choice by my family) and was repeatedly catcalled and yelled at to expose myself by drunk college guys. At ELEVEN. Just recently, the government ruled that feminine products (that I need, every month) should be tax-free, while Viagra has been on most medical plans for almost a decade. Every time I go to any sort of public, night establishment (i.e. bars) I get grabbed, harassed, poked, and touched by men who think it's "harmless". I can't walk down the street in a pair of shorts without being catcalled. My dad (while this isn't going to sound like it, is a pretty open-minded guy) constantly blames women drivers if anything in traffic goes wrong. About half of the time they aren't women. I saw Mad Max and heard men audibly complain when Max hands Furiosa the rifle. If I play video games and have any indication that I am female, I get rape threats, or messages asking for nudes. These are all examples of men who think what they're doing isn't demeaning.

Again I don't give a shit if you respond or not, I'm not gonna argue this anymore, but feminism is still important to a lot of women for a lot of different reasons. The world is getting a lot better, but we need representation of every type of group for equality to happen.
