About a year and a half ago, my friend and I were staying at his dad’s house up in the mountains. We thought it’d be fun to explore the forest areas surrounding the property with headlamps. Time got away from us; We ended coming up on someone else’s property, and decided we should probably get back to the house, as it was already pretty late.
We began going back the way we came, and suddenly the forest came to a dead silence. The crickets hushed and he told me to stop walking. There were mountain lions in the area notorious for killing livestock, so we began running (naturally) down a steep incline. I heard footsteps behind us, and genuinely thought we were in danger. We weren’t sure what it was, but something was most definitely on our trail.
We made it to the driveway of his dad’s house. We turned around and there was nothing there, so we started hiking up this mountain of a driveway.
We were about 50 yards from his house when we heard a snap in the brush beside the driveway. Our view snapped to the source of the noise, and what we saw was most definitely not an animal. At first glance, it looked like a naked man. We sprinted back to the house as fast as we could.
We made it back into the house and locked all the doors and windows around the house. We were really shaken up, looking around every possible exit/entrance point. We finally felt safe enough to sit down in the living room, but when we walked in, the window we had JUST locked was wide open. No one in the house but us was awake, and not on the same floor as us.
We hauled ass towards the stairs, when suddenly the sensor lights out front turned on. We both saw something obstruct the light as it ran past. It was unbelievably fast, and definitely didn’t look human or animal-like. We spent the rest of the night locked in a room, perched at the window and door like hawks.
I don’t feel comfortable sharing this story purely for how nonsensical it is. I couldn’t tell if I was crazy or if some fucking hellspawn just chased us through the woods. To this day, I have no idea what happened. I prefer not to think about it
