What is the safest way to ingest marijuana (for your voice)?

  1. Why not edibles?

  2. The verb "consume" would encompass eating it, smoking it, and injecting it intravenously, but a human "ingesting" something by definition involves eating it, so it must be edible.

  3. What kind of damage to your vocal cords are you worried about? I guess if you're worried about the deep voice smokers are known for having... isn't that a cigarette thing? (If it's real at all, /u/Truan would know better than me.) If so, I wouldn't worry about it with pot. I'm not any kind of expert on this, but cigarettes (a) have a lot of chemicals in them that marijuana doesn't, and (b) are consumed almost constantly. Some truly social smokers exist, but in general, if someone smokes a cigarette, they smoke half a pack a day or more. (That's a rough estimate, and the number of definitely lower than it used to be, but in 2007, 41 percent of smokers smoked at least a pack a day. So presumably more than that would smoke at least half a pack a day.) That's a frequent stream of smoke and chemicals going over your vocal cords and into your lungs throughout the day. Whereas it's hard to smoke marijuana as continually as you can smoke cigarettes. I'm not saying nobody does it, of course, but it's rare. So smoking marijuana is less harmful than cigarettes (generally), because being a light/average/heavy smoker of each means different things.

  4. OK, if you want the high of marijuana and want no damage at all to your vocal cords and for some reason don't want edibles... maybe vaping? As far as I know, no one makes them with marijuana instead of tobacco, but maybe someone is starting to do so in Colorado or Washington or something.
