What is something acceptable in women but frowned upon in men?

I’m a dad. I saw a 12-14 year old girl standing in the cold (not too recent) on a corner who was not dressed well for the conditions. I’ve never seen a bus come by this spot so it looked odd. I paused for almost an eternity in thought thinking if I should go and ask the girl if she needs me to call someone picking her up or if she needed a blanket and give her the one I had in the car. I decided against it because I’d just read a local article some guy was being questioned about grooming a girl around here.

In an earlier time like when I was a kid and if I were her age I’d have probably even hopped in a car if they offered me to warm up until my ride showed up. This made me so mad at this thing I could do nothing about. I would have also liked to have talked to whoever the girls parents were for letting her out without a coat and such of course. It made me bummed for a while.
