What is something you enjoy, but can't tolerate the fan base of?

BBC Sherlock. My absolute favorite show. Wonderful adaptations that are both true to the books and yet wonderfully different. Brilliant dialogue, visually, acting, directing, music. A brilliant, brilliant show. It has flaws but even at it's worst it's pretty great and it's one I'm always happy to rewatch.

But Jesus fucking Christ the fandom. Ignoring the Superwholock side where obviously you must like all three because.....two of them share the same writers and the third is American and has pretty boys?? (Don't get me wrong Doctor Who is also one of my favourite shows and Supernatural...ok I hate it but to each their own. But there is no connection between the three). And then you have the Johnlock side. I'm gay. I Have a boyfriend I love very much. This isn't me being homophobic. Ship what you want. Incest aside (and shipping Jessica Jones with her rapist because he's cute and British is just a little bit fucked up). Ship what you want. It hurts nobody. Draw what you want. Again hurts nobody (although side note if you present gay naked sexy fanart to the actors portrayed in the fanart don't get surprised or angry or self entitled because they are a little uncomfortable seeing a very detailed picture of them being fisted by their work colleague). But christ. Any ship but Johnlock. Now again this is a "small minority' issue I should emphasise that. Loudest minority. But I've been seeing awful awful things.

Firstly the word gay is thrown around so casually. Gay? The word meaning "one who likes same sex relationships?" No but that's cute. Instead it's thrown around so casually as a verb and noun and adjective. Apparently the actors are acting 100% gay and the writing is gay and every new episode is supergay. Gay gay gay. The unaired pilot? Nah. The gay pilot. The special? No the Gay victorian special. Congratulations you've turned being gay into a set of mannerisms that conform to whatever your views are. And you want nothing but to see them be gay at the end? Congratulations. I think you've just made gay a fetish. Oh and because Sherlock....one time looked at a room of soldiers when he was in a fucking MILITARY BARRACK that means he has a soldier fetish. And they use this obvious tenuous connection to prove he's gay. And other stereotypes such as him using words such as eloquent (yes I saw that being presented as evidence) and because he straightened his jacket in a mirror (yes that was an argument as well). Oh and one time he wiped some vomit off his face. That represents semen. Apparebntly. Gays are amazing and straights are slobs. I'll have to mention that to my boyfriend and tell him to shave. Secondly it is surprisingly mysoginistic, considering that the vast majority of the fandom are female. For example: Sherlock the character is a massive condescending dick who insults everyone and everything. The reaction from fans: lol omg smoll baby. Mary. Female character who's only crime is interrupting this holy gay ship by marrying one of them. Now she teases Sherlock in a very friendly joking way. As friends do. Light ribbing. Big deal right? The reaction: That fucking bitch is so fucking evil look at her being condescending and mean. I wasn't aware that to be a villian it means you have to be sarcastic but only if you are female. So why do people hate this female character? Is it because she's poorly written? No? On the contrary she's fantastically written in. Oh right. It means she theoretically prevents gay fucking. And (two year spoilers) she's pregnant. Whats the fans reaction: "omg yes i can't wait for the baby to fucking die I'll be so fucking happy". By the way. That was an actual fucking verbatim quote I saw. And yes. Every female character gets treated poorly and are held up to ridiculous double standards, unable to get away with anything. Call the writers sexist. They aren't as bad as the fans.

I apologise for the rant. I am just sick of some of the Sherlock fans who, without realising it and under a veil of social justice, are absolute awful gay fetishising, gay stereotyping self entitled double standard sexist with a fetish of excitement and baby killing and trying to turn the show into the most ridiculous soap opera with cliche twists and at the end: a gay fisting scene.

Oh and they complain about the wait between seasons. A lot. But that's minor.
