What is something the reddit hive mind dislikes that is actually not so bad?

Centrist approaches to immigration policy in the US.

I'm progressive/liberal in the US, but I'm also strict that my opinions obey a logical framework. That said, here's how to piss off reddit:

Step 1: Note that reddit wants the US to adopt more liberal social issues like they have in Western Europe. (as do I)

Step 2: Point out that Western Europe is strict about permanent visas, enforces their immigration laws, and kicks people out.

Step 3: Suggest that the US could be more like Europe in this regard.

This creates a hail of 'anger downvotes'. People who are furious about what you said, but they know you're right.

Want to make it worse? Note that the poem on the Statue of Liberty: "Bring us your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free.." Is not in the constitution.

  • It's a nice sentiment and it was appropriate in the 1800s agricultural economy, but not today.

  • Just like the outdated 2nd amendment that IS in the constitution.

  • If we are going to claim that we have outdated policies like the 2nd amendment, we must be logical and include outdated policies that we don't want to change.

That's it; i've made enough brains explode for one day.
