If you could go ahead and show me where I said that people are only poor because they don't have the work ethic to be successful, that would be great. What I said was, they aren't poor because the universe decided so. They could be poor for any number of reasons. Being a single mother might be one of them.

-- sometimes, especially in a capitalism-mad country like yours where there is almost no protection for employees (can you imagine the eagle swooping above us as I say this? God bless America), the only options left to you (even with a university-level education) are the shitty ones, the low-paying jobs, the part-time work that never somehow turns into that full-time you needed even though it was dangled in front of you when you signed your contract.

It's an American myth that you are the land of opportunity and that if only you worked hard enough, you could all be Donald Trumps. Guess what? The Trumps of this world don't want to give you their cash. They want to hoard it all for themselves. They're going to give you as small a percentage of their money as they can legally allow, because they are greedy. Your government could protect you from that, but you've already told them collectively that they can stick it up their ass. Hell, even if you hadn't, your government is mostly made up of Trumps that protect their own interests.
