What toxic behavior has been normalized by society?

The fact that the American Congress is so white and make is an example. It’s changing and diversifying, but gerrymandering of voting areas is a real thing that has been used to silence the voices of minorities, and while some of these lines may have been drawn long ago (I’m not sure when off the top of my head, and I know that a few have recently been changed, but), they haven’t been changed. Yes, you have to make choices on how to chunk up populations when you’re drawing those lines, and even if you try your best to make things fair and even, somebody won’t be happy. But that’s different from deliberate actions that have been taken over the years consistently.

While there are additional levels of complexity to how certain people end up running for those positions (access to higher education, available funds/wealth, etc) I think it’s fair to say that those representing a population should at least represent the population, ya know?
