What were some of the biggest political scandals in your country ?

We've had a few.

There was the CDU donation scandal, in which the CDU under Kohl accepted donations into secret bank account without disclosing those donation, which parties are legally required to do. It broke Kohl's image as a politician and Elder Statesman.

Then there is good old Günter Guillaume, a personal assistant to Chancellor Brandt, who, sadly for Brandt, was also an agent for the MfS, or in other words the Stasi. When their allegiance was revealed Brandt stepped down and Helmut Schmidt became Chancellor.

Last but not least, the Spiegel affair. On the right side you have Franz-Josef Strauß at that time Federal Minister of Defence, on the left side you have Rudolf Augstein founder and owner of Der Spiegel a German weekly news magazine. In the middle there is the article Bedingt abwehrbereit (Partially Ready to Defend), and the sheer and utter hatred of Strauß in regards to Augstein, which obviously had nothing to do any with any of it.
