What is your least favorite city and why?

Sarasota, FL. Now, I may be biased because my boyfriend lives here and we're in a LDR due to this (going to end soon, though!) But let's get to the point.

Whenever we go out, I am noticeably the only non-white, young girl in crowds. How do I know this? Because of the swarm of chicken flesh old white people with too much money giving me the evil eye wherever we go. Before I continue, it's probably important to know that as a child I had a extreme phobia of old people. I used to cover my eyes whenever we passed by a grandma. Horrible, I know. But you can't explain a child's quirks, ok!

On Father's Day, my family and I visited. We ate at this brunch place that was fashioned like an Amish house of sorts (another fun fact about Sarasota: a lot of old people...and Amish! And it's really saying something when you prefer the company of the Amish to the majority geriatric population.) Now, I love breakfast places. There's an abundance of breakfast and brunch places in Sarasota, because when you're at the end of the rope, I guess all your stomach can fathom is eggs and grits. Whatever. But dude...That day, I felt suffocated by veiny skin flesh and being a minority in this godforsaken town that I snapped and caused this unneeded argument with my sister because I NEEDED a feeling of release, a moment to feel something REAL and alive. We ended up getting into a classic cat fight, hair-pulling and all, in the car. Like children! The experience proved that I would probably find being in a post-apocalyptic wasteland very, very unfavourable.

tl;dr: I had a phobia of old people when I was young. Sarasota awakened my deep, suppressed fears in a truly horrible way.

Also: yeah, there's a nice art school here. It's even more depressing, however, to view this art school as a monument / entertainment factory for the older, more well to do folk. It's a vapid investment in the arts, especially since tuition is 100k after it's all done and over and a lot of the students (the only youth in that town!) end up in debt. The town is fucking surreal.
