What is your most controversial opinion?

I think demisexuality is honestly fine. Yeah I know that most people who say they’re demi are really annoying, but it seems like a fine shorthand to say that you aren’t sexually attracted to someone until you get to know them, which describes a lot of people I know. There’s something really passé about the term so I’d never use it, but I do think it could be a useful way for likeminded people to get together.

In a similar vein, I think asexuality is also real and a term that genuinely is useful for those who label themselves that way. It’s common in autistic women I know, and I wonder if there’s an overlap with the genes for autism somehow. They don’t seem to care about their lack of sexual desire and I strongly support them framing it positively if they’d like to.

I’m not sure how popular or unpopular this is, but I do not want to get within ten feet of any man who visits subreddits like raceplay, misogyny fetish, rape kink, daughter training, etc. That’s absolutely disgusting to me and even if their kinks out of their control, I can still choose to separate myself from the people who are afflicted with them.

Lastly, I think we should seriously increase the requirements to be a teacher. I feel like this is a “bad” opinion to have because it would displace so many people out of their jobs, but I want the smartest people teaching our children and I’m completely willing to pay more in taxes to compensate them accordingly. I majored in math and I had SO many friends who would have loved to be teachers (and were brilliant at explaining things in a simple, digestible way), but they couldn’t stomach the shitty salary. I want those people teaching my kids! Every education major I met in college was an idiot to be honest, and I still want those people to live good lives but not as teachers.
