I love surfers myself, I don’t get to go there as often as I’d like, but everyone always talks about it being a drug and bikie type place, but I’ve been there plenty and I live in Brisbane , crime is all through Australia anyway, never really understood why some places stand out as worse then others.and most people just make assumptions that anyone that dresses or looks a certain way can be grouped into some sort of bad bunch. There’s a lot more tatted up ripped blokes in the goldy with there shirts off and people automatically link that to bikies, and obviously there’s been some highly televised bikie problems there before, so assuming that’s where the “bad reputation” comes from. I guess they forget it’s also a beach and not everyone who works out is a bikie. Just stereotypes, us aussies love to pretend to be accepting but we do really love our stereotypes too, that and I swear everyone has a shit story about somewhere. There is literally no where in this country I think I’d feel unsafe or not want to visit due to reputation.
