What's the best gaming experience you've ever had?

I'm a competitive Melee player, at the end of one of the locals I usually go to in NYC, a couple of salty players claimed that melee was too easy, and challenged a couple of us to go to their smash 4 tournament in Brooklyn. I decided that I would take them up on their offer, and attended.

Here's the thing-

I play Pikachu in Melee, and I'm no stranger to the smash 4, or any other of the smash games metas. Unlike in Melee, where Pikachu is mid-tier, in Smash 4 Pikachu is top tier, with the top smash 4 players thinking he had the potential to out due Shiek. I also have years of practice of aiming recoveries, teching, etc. so I didn't go without any experience, and I did practice a day before to get quick attack canceling down (where Pikachu's recovery is used to cancel into an aerial move)

Anyway, I showed up- sadly I was the only one of two of the Melee players to show up- and I throw down my 10 dollar entry fee and get ready. First round I don't lose a stock in either of the two games, sadly in the second round I go to losers bracket against the guy who would eventually win the tournament. But there is the experience- what I call my salty run.

In losers brackets, it is the best of one game until the losers finals. So from the 2nd round of losers to the finals of the losers bracket, which was best 2/3, I stood my ground and knocked out opponent after opponent out of the tournament- including the guy who originally insulted Melee (who was expecting a pay out, or to win a money prize by coming in one of the top three places) and he promptly left in the most salty manner of any, refusing the hand shake, knocking my controller out of my hands etc. I get to losers finals from my way, making everyone I played angry because I hadn't missed a tech and played Pikachu "how he wasn't supposed to be played" or in other words, I played him as he is played in Melee, with the addition of Quick attack canceling when we went to Smashville, Lylat, or of course, Battlefield.

So I win losers finals making another guy salty. And I get my rematch against this one guy- super chill guy, I liked him a lot- I lose 3-1 since Grand Finals are best of 5. Out of the 32 people who entered, only the top 3 get pay outs- 60%, 35% and 5% of the money invested in the tournament respectively. The entry fee was 10 dollars. 35% of 320 is 112. I earned 102 dollars, and free salt for a year by showing that Melee takes more skill than Smash 4.
