I've kind of been on both ends. I stabbed a kid with a pencil and had a kitchen knife a little bigger than a paring knife thrown in my arm after I walked in the path of my brother doing stupid shit. When the knife went in my arm I didn't feel it at all. It was just there all of a sudden and I was in tears and pain. My brother then suggested that I let him remove it, and I ran inside to show my mom. She was shocked and picked up the phone to call 911, but I was too impatient and wanted the knife out of my arm immediately so I pulled it out. She then wrapped my arm in a towel and rushed me to the emergency room. After waiting a little bit with my arm hurting more and more I got to see a doctor. They told me since I took it out they couldn't stitch it up (I'm still not clear why) and I was given ointment to put on the wound since I got lucky and nothing important was hit. The healing process didn't feel great and I still have a scar on my forearm that I get asked about every now and then.
