This is 100% true.

A little backstory: I was at my friends house until about 2 am one fall night with a big harvest moon. He lives on a dirt road in the backwoods of Michigan. About a mile down, the road makes a sharp right to avoid a cemetery. I've been there to check it out - graves from the 1600's, pretty cool.

So I'm driving down the road and begin to make the sharp right, and busting out of the cemetery comes this MASSIVE black figure on all fours. I continued making the turn, increasing my speed but never taking my eyes off this thing. At this point I was freaked out. I felt this immense sense of terror. It was almost like I somehow knew the car offered no protection from whatever it was. It was almost too fast for how big it looked. I stepped on the gas, trying to get out out of there as quickly as I could. It takes a second to get up any speed on a dirt road - and looking back, n my sheer terror - I think I was just spinning tires.

Which gave it time to catch up to the driver side door of my car.

It looked like a wolf - but it had black shaggy fur, and was WAY too big. It ran at pace next to my drivers side door - inches away. It was quite apparnet why I felt such terror. The thing was HUGE. Its head was easily level with the top of my car. I leaned away from the window - just in case it decided to turn and lunge through it. I remember just wanting to get away - like a feeling something terrible was going to happen. Just pure dread. It never once crossed my mind to try veering into it or anything like that... I don't know why. At one point I couldn't go much faster because well - dirt roads. I remember looking down and noting that I was going 45 mph.

Then it was gone.

It wasn't in the rear view mirror, I didn't see it jump into the brush on either side of the road. For the split second I looked down to see how fast I was going, it had vanished. I'm a native here, and familiar with foxes, coyotes, and the like. But this was different. I tried researching what it was. I was unable to find any reports of massive black wolves in Michigan. I was, however, able to find some obscure native american reference to large black 'spirit' wolves that used to run with tribes - BUT I don't believe in any of that stuff.
