Out of the blue in the middle of the night she sent our dad some just ridiculously long series of text messages about what a terrible dad he was and all of the reasons listed were like super minor things that happened 20 years ago.

It was literally stuff like:

"that one time when I was in 8th grade and you took our little brother to McDonalds for lunch but didn't take me with you."

"Or that one time when you went to so and so's basketball game instead of coming to my soccer game."

The thing is, it was this like super duper long chain of stuff like this. He responded by apologizing but at the same time telling her to chill. He tried calling her several times about it and left voicemails. When she finally did get back in touch a couple of weeks later she basically just pretended like it had never happened and the couple of times our dad has tried to address it she's just blown it off as "oh its no big deal, we don't need to talk about it."
