This may well get buried, but... back when I was a lifeguard, I was subbing at a different pool on my day off. This pool had a slide (fml) and a camp group visiting that day (...fml). I was on the slide side of the pool when this kid goes off of it. He pops back up and... doesn't go anywhere. Just sits in the middle of the pool. His camp leader starts screaming at him to get the fuck over to the side of the pool, why does he always have to be such a little shit, goddammit, Jamal because she, like most people, doesn't know what drowning looks like. (It looks like someone is frantically treading water while making little squeaky noises. The flailing and yelling is distressed swimming. Pre-drowning, if you will.)

I make the call and get Jamal out of the pool. Camp lady is still berating Jamal for making a scene. Everyone gets pulled out of the pool and we go through our usual procedure of calling the higher ups and filling out forms while camp lady is still pissed off at this poor kid. Eventually, the pool manager has to pull her aside and say, hey, this kid is probably traumatized and you need to stop. She calms down and we are finishing the forms when the other guard there makes some comment about how black people can't swim. He says this right in front of Jamal and the camp leader, who are both black. It went about as well as you'd expect and we all ended up having to take racial sensitivity training because of our stupid company policy. Everyone present has to take the fall so nobody feels singled out.

Anyway. One of the managers shows up and starts micromanaging the shit out of us because she's pissed. She tries to send me back into the chair with no break. I told her I needed to go to the bathroom. "You'll have to wait until after your next rotation." Well, I had my period and was about to start bleeding through. I tell her this, she thinks I'm bullshitting her, we argue. I go to the bathroom anyway because I'm not petty enough to bleed everywhere out of spite. She writes me up. I unsuccessfully try to argue my way out of it later even though everyone acknowledges that she is a huge bitch.

tl;dr: fuck that day
