What's your "never spoken of" family secret?

The fact that my mom's whole side of the family stole a child.

It's not as bad as it sounds, but still very shitty. I'm gonna summarize here. My uncle and his wife were going through a divorce at the time. It's relevant to say she lived in the U.S while my uncle is from Mexico. They had my cousin and they were fighting for custody of him. My grandma was a very spiteful and manipulative person to anyone she saw as a threat. She made one my aunts forge a letter pretenting to be my uncle's wife, writing that she "no longer wants her kid, wants to give full custody to my uncle, and wants nothing to do with him". My grandma's other older children jumped in on the plot and each took a role to manipulate the situation. Such as making uncle's wife late to court proceedings, telling her the wrong dates, gaslighting, lying about her in court, and threatening her. They sent the letter to court and my uncle got full custody. (Being that this took place around the 70s, in Mexico, court processes were easily manipulated). My cousins mom tried everything possible to get custody, but my family manipulated the situation so well, she was basically forced to give up. And thus, the years passed. The sad part about all of this is that my uncle was never involved in my cousins life afterwards. He remarried, had two more daughters, and his new wife shunned my cousin like the plague. My cousins' mom continously tries to communicate with him, sending him letters, and checks up on her grandkids when she can, despite living so far apart from each other and not seeing each other for many years. She is more of a parent than my uncle will ever be in his entire life.
