Is gun violence (in the USA) worth the ability to defend against an ‘oppressive government’? Why or why not?

Maybe it would be if: 1) the US had an extremely oppressive government and if 2) the government was not extremely well armed themselves.

However, I don't believe 1 is true (though I guess that's an opinion) and 2 is definitely not true given how much local, state and federal agencies spend on defense.

I've always thought it was quite silly when people say they need to have guns to protect themselves from the federal government, as if somehow the government would be unable to kill some random dude in his home who had a few guns. If the federal government really wanted someone dead they would just use a drone and bomb the shit out of them and wouldn't give a shit about anyone caught in the crossfire. Because that's what we've done to people in other countries.
