i dont think so; splash could mean what the original guy/gal wrote, personally idgaf about that; what i do gaf about was "wet," which i think is distinct from "splash," and arose separately from "splash" ; i think "wet" comes from the sound, and not as an extension to "splash," although it's plausible

and i based my argument off of my experience

And then (remember the root of this conversation, someone called the last kick in the gif W E T), the dude was explaining that eventually kids on the internet calling everything that was cool, wet.

so as for this, im objecting to the op's association of "wet" to "splash" in the op's explanation of "wet" to the guy/gal who asked what "wet" meant because i think "wet" nd "splash" mean different things
