MRI without contrast

I had my first MRI’s about 4 months ago without contrast. My neuro said he prefers to not use contrast when possible, but didn’t elaborate too much. Just switched to an MS specialist last week and he was annoyed that I didn’t have contrast as it was impossible to tell the “disparity in time” as someone else noted (he still confirmed the diagnosis bc of other factors). That said, I just scheduled more MRI’s with and without contrast for next week because he wants a clearer picture.

Also, apparently with the newer machines they can check real-time for new lesions on future MRI’s and forgo contrast if none show up.

Side note, the MS specialist was dismissive of risks from contrast saying they were blown out of proportion by Chuck Norris’s wife... haven’t looked into that yet.
