My Dog Hates My Boyfriend - Please Help

~~~~ Good advice! I work with Rescues + Foster (as well as my own). When meeting a new dog, if possible, I like to sit on the floor (closer to their level) + let him / her come to me. Don't reach (or grab!), but speak in a soft, soothing voice.
If they seem shy, I ignore them, turn back or side towards them ~~~ not head-on ~~~ and talk to others, watch TV or something else; let their curiosity bring them to sneak up behind to sniff. DON'T GRAB!
Have treats, maybe 2-3 a foot or so away + a couple closer, + one in your open hand laying on the floor beside you that he can take.
Be quiet, gentle, and slow motion ;
no quick jerky moves, loud voices or any threatening actions. Also, good smells.
Movie actors often put bacon or other good smells in their pocket or on their hands before meeting / working with an animal co-star. And avoid 'bad' smells -- anything that might frighten. Even cologne / aftershave may have a harsh smell to him.
Most of all ---- PATIENCE! + Treats are good. Positive re-enforcement.
And NO, don't use his crate for punishment. Let that be his SAFE place ~~~~ Good advice! I work with Rescues + Foster (as well as my own).
