Where did John go?

Yes, I think there were three CSI people who were processing evidence at the scene after the initial 911 call. One photographed the ransom note and the stairs and took the note to the BPD to photocopy it, then went home sick. The other two focused on potential points of entry/exit at the home, dusting for fingerprints and taking photos and so on. They didn't enter the wine cellar room where JBR was located because it was visibly latched closed with the wood block thing on the outside of the door and therefore it was assumed it was not a point of entry/exit to the outside. I don't know if they left after the 10:00am time had passed, I don't think they did but I don't know how long they spent processing potential evidence in the home. Someone else might know.

Around 1:00pm JR brought JBR up to the hallway and Detective Arndt moved her to the living room and advised JR to call 911. The status of the investigation changed to a homicide investigation and eventually JR, PR, and all their friends and their priest were I guess asked or told to leave the house and it was secured as a crime scene. Some places in the house had been secured during the initial part of the investigation I believe, like maybe JBR's bedroom, but ehhh I'm not sure on that point. I think it was though, as in it was processed by a CSI and then he closed the door and sealed it with crime scene tape to show no one entered after he had processed and photographed it. My impression is the whole house was sealed with crime scene tape after it had been declared a homicide investigation, except I believe that was done before it had been processed or photographed the second time. The second lot of CSI processing happened after a warrant had been obtained to photograph stuff and seize items in the home. That warrant didn't get approved until around 8:30pm and that is when the crime scene video and some more crime scene photographs were taken I think.

Only a small number of the photos are publicly available and they weren't trying to photograph the same things in the second set photos as they were in the first photos, it was just two different sets of photos y'know. So if someone was deliberately moving things or concealing evidence after the first CSIs had already arrived, it isn't necessarily going to be apparent from looking at both the earlier and later photos. But any differences in those photo sets would be very interesting to see. There are some differences that have been brought up which do have explanations, like Kolar mentions that JBR's bedroom balcony shows footprints in the snow in the second set of photos but not the first set. Those footprints belong to the CSI who processed her room before she was found. I think he took a photo of the un-footprinted snow, walked out there and took photos of her external windows etc (as they would have been a possible point of entry/exit for a potential kidnapper) and then went back inside and sealed her room after it was processed. Not 100% on that, I'm making some assumptions tbh. I haven't seen those photos, I don't know if they are available publicly or not.

There is a 'photo timeline' on the acandyrose website that splits the photos up into those taken during the 'kidnapping phase' and those taken later, although as I mentioned only a few are publicly available and they might not all actually be on that website. Also they aren't particular great quality pictures most of the time. Same goes for the crime scene videos that have been released or leaked, the quality and focus isn't always very good.
