I think maybe if and when John was telling JonBenet that their secret "interactions" couldn't continue she may have started exploring other opportunities with some of the younger boys at the 23rd December party.
They may have rejected her ALSO hence her telling Pricilla White that she didn't "feel pretty anymore".
John's behaviour is cagey right up to "hiding" JonBenets Xmas bike at the Barnhills. It was also his way of incriminating his neighbors.

JonBenet bought a bubble gum dispenser for John's Christmas present. Balls. Balls that go in your mouth. To a child he liked balls and he liked them in a mouth.
John said that JonBenet was a SPARK plug in his life. He bounced up and down in his chair when he mentioned looking for her killer.
John was a clean freak. Could explain why the box of Klennex was on the table with the bowl of pineapple. To blow her nose with. She was found with mucas in her system. Also to wipe her mouth or hands after eating pineapple or to wipe his own hands because he would NOT have wanted to TOUCH the spoon and leave his fingerprints on it!
John held his daughter AWAY from his body. He did NOT attempt CPR even though he would have been her only hope IF she was still alive.
