My sister's best male friend in high school.

When he was 15 he was arrested for raping his little sister (he's now required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life).

By the age of 20 he'd totaled four cars (one of them was a DUI that killed one of his buddies, but he got off easy since he was a minor).

He worked a few years at a major nationwide pizza chain making and delivering pizzas. He told terrified 12-year-old little me that he kept a small jar of liquid mercury in the pizza joint's refrigerator and that he sometimes dipped his fingertips in it when he was making pizzas. Maybe he was just fucking with me, I don't know but it scared me.

He sincerely believes that a guy who has a male roomie must be gay, and told me that I was gay for having a male roomie even after he'd met my girlfriend.

He once came over to our house to hang with my sister, and he left pot brownies for me when I was 10 or 11 years old with a note telling me they were just normal brownies. Needless to say my sister was pissed.

He'd host these huge parties, get blackout drunk every time, and on a few occasions he'd start physically assaulting his girlfriend. More often though, he'd hurl insults at all his friends and guests. The next day he was his "normal" self and didn't seem to recollect anything.

He was best man at my sister's wedding and the wedding had to be delayed so that they could post bail for him because he'd gotten into a fistfight at a bar an hour before the wedding was to take place.

Years later as an adult, I took my cat to the vet and to my horror he was working there as a vet technician. As he took my cat to take to the exam room, he whispered something to me about having easy access to animal tranquilizers if I wanted some.

I no longer live on the same continent, but I see him around town every goddamn time I go home.
