WIBTA if I tell my stepdaughter and my wife that I don't want to use the investments I made for my late daughter to finance her college education?

NAH- however, I would like to add one more thing which you might have already realized. You should be prepared to sacrifice one thing or another depending on which side you choose to give your money to.

As everyone already knows, college tuition isn’t cheap these days, to put it at least. Unless your child is supported with financial aid, she will be in a lot of debt which she will have to sacrifice a lot of her time to pay off. By supporting your child, you will be able to give her opportunities as she will be able to have more time to spend on besides paying the debt off. To put it simply, family growth.

We can see that donating your money to the charity might ease your emotions. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if that messed things up between your current family.

If I were in your shoes, I would spend the money on college tuition. But your money is your money- you are entitled to it and have every right to spend it as you wish to.

However, please do not forget that your current family is just as “family” much as your former one.
