I win, credit cards. $6,474.56 paid off since November.

Great Job! You have the right idea! To (re)build credit score you want your utilization ratio to be less the 30% of your credit limit. It shows that you are willing to spend money and fanatically responsible to pay it off without seeming despite for cash. To raise your credit limit on cards; you want to keep your ratio under 10% of your credit score. When I started out 2 years ago (age 19) I could only get $500 credit limit on one card. If I charged $300 to the card in a month I would pay out $255 before the bill cycle would close so my statement would always stay around $45. Over time this tactic has lead me to getting over 800 point in credit score and over 20k in total cards limit at 21. (Yes I'm bragging haha)

Off topic but an easy way to start saving cash is to find out if your company offers a retirement plan where they match your monthly input. Costco Canada offers a 50% match with maximum 8% input per paycheque. You don't even get to have a chance to spend the money because your work puts it away for you. A $500 paycheque at 8% puts away $40 plus a 50% match of $20. In one month you make $920 and saved $120. Once you can live comfortably with $80 less spending money move on to a rrsp or a saving account. I put $50 per paycheque into my rrsp and the rest that i can save into a savings account.

A friend making $1,5000.00 a pay check was maxing out his credit cards and putting all of his paycheque into his cards just so he could max it out again paying $100 of dollars in fees. I asked him to see if his company had a retirement plan and he found out they match your input up to a $100 a paycheque! He signed up for it and I also got him using mint.com account. We made a budget that was $1000 at most and $400 would go to paying off his credit cards. Over time he lowered his spending down and paid off more of his credit debt. Seeing his savings going up $400 a month from his work pension plan made making money more like a game for him! This has helped co-workers and other friends too!

Anyways hope you all have a great day! =)
