Guy here, but I don't think you have to get too creative. I write some stupid crap and somehow, always to my surprise, manage to get matched.

One woman had nothing of note on her profile, and I just liked a picture and asked, "Have you gone snowboarding?" I don't even know why I asked. It was a picture of her in a field of flowers. I wasn't doing anything that would tieback to snowboarding, snow, or anything that would evoke the idea of asking about it. And a few hours later, WE MATCHED. Why would that work?! I have no clue. Now we have a date on Wednesday. How did I get here?!?!

So yeah, don't overthink it. Just write whatever your gut tells you to.
