Being unable to manage your "pride" is holding you back from exploring your options. You can use your words to gather information without coming off as desperate. Why not reach out to him and ask if he's one of those types of people who prefer not to text in the days leading up to the date? That would give him a chance to explain, and then for you to express the desire to continue txting. Or, he can be lame and ghost, which is also an answer, and you can move on.
