And he does shit like that all the time. He always says things like, "I will always protect you. I hate to think of anyone treating you badly." He is trying to say that people should treat me like shit, like I deserve it.

It sounds like he is just being a caring guy and you're misinterpreting him.

And he is racist. I don't feel comfortable being with a racist.
