Would there be any suspicion if a 19 year old Indian kid went to an Orthodox church and said he wanted to convert?

Good luck! Do not be discouraged if someone corrects you in somewhat blunt fashion - it's never something personal, though that can be hard to see for someone who is struggling with anxiety. Outside appearances are very misleading, and we should not expect to grow without pains.

I hope people will take you in and teach you well. I often felt like being dropped in the deep end and being observed with discouragingly mild interest to see whether I would swim or drown, being the first catechumen who was unfamiliar with christianity and under 30 for what I suspect was decades. In retrospect I was likely just too shy to express myself and laying my honest self out there. People tend to mistake silence for wisdom, after all.

From what I read in this site you guys in USA seem to have quite good pastoral support and priests who like to talk, and you should make very good use of this.

If you are comfortable with it, please share your first name or a name related to it so we could better pray for you.
