Would you wear a vest doing apartment security?

Agreed, I've been using Safe Life Defense armor for several years now, both covert & overt vest models. Their IIIA+ vests cover all pistol rounds, including FN 5.7, and they are knife & spike resistant. The overt vests also allow you to include hard or soft level IV ICW plates, and their FRAS armor & plates are amazingly light & flexible. Currently awaiting my order of their new Hyperline armor, which is so thin people can't tell that you are even wearing armor at all.

On average nationwide, we lose 80-90 security guards every year due to various acts of violence while on duty. This parallels the same number of police officers killed on duty yearly in a similar manner, which is a sobering statistic.

Many calls that security guards deal with today would actually warrant a police response in years past. We are usually the first responders to these situations, before the police arrive, so it is imperative that you keep yourself safe regardless of the situation.

So, yes, body armor is almost always a good choice to wear while on duty, especially when keeping in mind that in the U.S. the police have no inherent duty (Public Duty Doctrine Laws) to protect you or anyone else for that matter.
